Pallet & Container CBM Calculator
๐ฆ How This Pallet & Container CBM Calculator Works
This tool helps you plan palletized cargo loading by checking volume, height, and weight limits for standard shipping containers before physical loading begins.
It is designed for warehouse planners, inventory controllers, logistics executives, and exporters who need quick and reliable feasibility checks.
๐ข CBM Formula Used
CBM (Cubic Meter) is calculated using the standard formula:
CBM = Length ร Width ร Height
For palletized cargo:
Total CBM = (Pallet Length ร Pallet Width ร Pallet Height) ร Number of Pallets
All dimensions are automatically converted into meters based on the selected unit of measurement (mm, cm, or meter).
๐ Container Capacity Logic
The calculator evaluates your cargo against real container constraints:
๐ฆ Supported Container Types
- 20 ft Standard Container
- 40 ft Standard Container
- 40 ft High Cube Container
Each container has:
- Maximum internal height
- Maximum CBM capacity
- Maximum payload weight
โ๏ธ Weight Limit Validation (Critical)
Weight limits are checked independently from volume:
- 20 ft containers are weight-restricted
- 40 ft and High Cube containers are usually volume-restricted
If the total pallet weight exceeds container payload capacity, the tool clearly flags it as Weight Exceeded, even if CBM is within limits.
This prevents unsafe loading and costly rework at dispatch.
๐ Pallet Stacking & Height Check
If pallet stacking is selected:
- The tool calculates effective loaded height
- Compares it against container internal height
- Alerts if the stack exceeds container limits
This ensures door clearance and safe stacking inside the container.
๐ Visual Container Fill Indicator
A side-view container graphic shows:
- Approximate fill percentage
- Visual confirmation of space utilization
This makes it easier to explain loading plans to operations teams and supervisors.
๐ Printable Loading Summary
After calculation, a printable summary is generated showing:
- Container type
- Pallet quantity and CBM
- Total cargo weight
- Height, volume, and weight status
This is useful for:
- Loading instructions
- Dispatch documentation
- Internal approvals
โ ๏ธ Important Note
This calculator is intended for planning and estimation purposes.
Always verify:
- Carrier payload limits
- Road transport regulations
- Export documentation requirements
before final shipment execution.
